Second Chances

Thanks to the efforts of shelters, rescue groups and individuals many companion animals get a second chance at a forever home.

Max McKee is king of his castle. He loves his new home. During the day you'll find him running errands with dad and at night you can find him cuddled up watching tv with mom. As for Dustee, she just loves lounging around the house. No more cold winter nights on the streets of Chicago for her. She doesn't even mind sharing all her comforts with Max.

Munchkin Bomhack is a very happy dog these days. He was adopted from a local animal shelter. He suffered from severe pancreatitis. With the help of his veterinarian and mom, who prepares a special diet for him daily, he is doing great. His veterinarian refers to him as the "miracle dog". Way to go Munchkin.

Darby was rescued from a neglectful situation when he was a puppy. He was chained up outside and full of worms, no one ever went in the backyard except to throw some food at him periodically. He just sat there with his head hanging down. Once rescued, foster mom Debbie Blalock nursed him back to health. Marilyn also a rescue, took Darby under her wing when he was a pup and they have been best friends ever since.

Luna, Ricky and Lucy were from a litter of 5. Their irresponsible owner let the kittens outside when they were very young. Within the first couple of hours 2 of the kittens were killed by cars. Debbie stepped in and took the other three.

Remy was born to a feral mom. Debbie was not able to help her, but she was able however to catch Remy when he was very young.

Ty is a very special cat and has a special story. On the day Debbie lost her own cat to kidney failure, she came home to find a stray cat (Marilyn) having one baby on her front porch. The caring for Ty helped Debbie through the agony of losing her own cat. This started her journey of rescuing cats.

A young child was going door to door selling Neko who was about 6 or 7 weeks old. Neko was starving and loaded with worms. Debbie immediately took the sick kitten from the child and started nursing Neko back to health. He's doing great now and grown into a happy, healthy, content boy.

Mama was spayed after having Luna, Ricky and Lucy. Debbie also gave her a forever home.

More second chances coming soon.
